Privacy Policy

This policy describes the information collected during a visit, why it is used, and the limited cases in which another party may receive it. By using Cumberland County Criminal History, you accept the practices stated below.

Data You Give Us Directly

Search Queries

A name or location entered in a search box is sent directly to the outside provider operating that tool. The provider processes the query and supplies its results. We do not keep or record those search terms on our systems.

Messages and Contact Submissions

An email sent to us may be retained so the team can respond. It remains within the organization unless disclosure is required by a valid legal obligation.

Data We Gather Automatically

When a page loads, the servers may automatically receive technical visit details:

  • Page-view times and the pages visited
  • Device type and operating system
  • The referring site, when one is supplied
  • Browser type and version
  • The device's assigned IP address
  • Approximate time spent on pages

Cookies and Analytics

Cookies are small files placed on a device. They help measure aggregate use, such as popular pages and where visits end. Analytics services assist with that measurement. A browser can block cookies, although doing so may change how some site functions behave.

What We Do With This Data

Collected technical information supports routine operation and improvement of the service:

  • Diagnosing and correcting technical faults
  • Routing a search request to the selected outside service
  • Operating the site and maintaining page speed
  • Measuring which pages are useful or need revision
  • Displaying advertising that may reflect visitor interests

No Criminal-Record Data on File

Cumberland County Criminal History does not keep, assemble, or sell a database of personal criminal records. It publishes general directions to Cumberland County agencies, the New Jersey Judiciary, the New Jersey State Police State Bureau of Identification, and the New Jersey Sex Offender Internet Registry. We are not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act. Visitor information is not assembled into consumer reports or third-party criminal-history files.

Third-Party Search Partners

Outside companies operate the search boxes. A query submitted through one of those tools is governed by that partner's privacy policy, retention rules, and sharing practices. Those choices are beyond our control, so review the provider's policy before entering a search.

Links to Other Websites

Links may lead to Cumberland County offices, New Jersey courts and agencies, legal-aid resources, or outside tools. Once a visitor follows a link, the destination's policy controls the visit. Review it before providing personal information.

Some advertising providers may use their own systems to track activity across sites for targeted advertising. We do not run that tracking infrastructure.

Who Might See Your Data

We do not sell personal information. Limited data may be available to:

  • Analytics providers that measure traffic and performance
  • Search partners that process a submitted query
  • Government or law-enforcement bodies acting under a valid legal order
  • Advertising networks serving ads on the pages

How We Protect Your Data

Standard security measures are used to protect collected information. No Internet-connected service can guarantee perfect security, so we cannot promise that a breach will never occur.

Users Under 18

The site is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under eighteen. If such information is identified, we will remove it after receiving notice.

Your Data Rights

Applicable New Jersey law may provide additional rights. The New Jersey Open Public Records Act, N.J.S.A. 47:1A-1 through -13, governs public records held by government agencies, while N.J.S.A. 53:1-20.5 and 53:1-20.6 regulate State Police criminal-history dissemination. Those government-record laws do not turn this private site into a records custodian. Subject to applicable law, you may:

  • Request deletion of information held about you
  • Ask for access to information we retain about you
  • Object to certain forms of processing
  • Request correction of inaccurate information

Updates to This Policy
